Paris, The City of Love (and cake)

It’s hard to get away when you’re running your own business, especially if it’s food related. Somewhere between production, planning, stock management, juggling orders, dealing with suppliers and the constant feeling that there’s always more to do, it’s hard enough to find time to sleep, never mind jet off on holiday and leave it all behind.

Sometimes, though, it’s great to just stop and take stock of where you are at. Even better is if you can add a little “research” to the mix, combining work and pleasure so you feel a little less bad about leaving your business baby on the back burner for a few days.

Good News from Good Food!

We are delighted to announce that we have won a bursary award to exhibit at one of the biggest food and drink shows in the country, and our biggest event to date! We will be at the BBC Good Food Show Winter in Birmingham from 26-29th November.

It all started last January when we contacted the lovely Katy Truss (who runs Fabulous Food Finds) about the BBC Good Food Show Bursary Awards.

Now available in a local shop for local people

We’ve been busy bees over the past few months developing (and taste-testing our way through) all sorts of new products and flavours.

So here’s our guest blog for Whitmore & White, introducing our new range of chocolate stocked in their Heswall and Frodsham stores.

P.S. If you are unfortunate enough to live too far away, you can catch us armed with most of these items at events and they will soon be available on our online boutique.

We’re all going on a summer holi….. nope back to work!

Our festival season came to an end (at least the ones we had booked for the Summer have all been and gone), and we could really use a holiday…. which is why we went straight into a week of product testing, markets, client visits and tastings. The world of chocolate never rests!

First up a little experimentation with new chocolate decorations. I was quite pleased with this red speckled pattern, although my dear colleague thought it looked like someone had been stabbed. A quick coating of bronze made them look a little less what we had dubbed “crime scene chic”, and a lot more appropriate for their maple caramel and pecan praline filling.

Trying a new chocolate design, affectionately dubbed “crime scene chic”…. These eventually became maple caramel and pecan praline chocolates., as part of our latest seasonal selection box.

Izzy, Wizzy, Let’s get busy!

Another weekend and TWO new places for us!

Our first trip will be to this year’s Tatton Park Foodies Festival. This takes places over three days (Friday 17th-Sunday 19th) and is a huge festival with all the usual suspects, including great local produce, celebrity chefs and tons to see and do. Set in beautiful Tatton Park, this promises to be the biggest festival we have attended so far, and hopefully the best one yet! Continue reading Izzy, Wizzy, Let’s get busy!

The past few weeks

This poor blog has been very unloved over the past few weeks, so here’s a bumper picture post showing what we’ve been up to & where we’ve been.

Frodsham Market 22/05/2015
Set up at Chester Uni with our lovely new banner for the last Chester Food Fest until September. Just taking a moment for a bit of stall browsing before the lunch time rush! We had lots of beautiful marshmallows, chocolate bars, and handmade chocolates with us, alongside boxes of dark chocolate dipped candied fruit.

Hope you had a Hoppy Easter

Hope everyone has had a happy (hoppy?) Easter, and that the bunny brought lots of delicious chocolates! The last thing we heard from him, he was lying on a nice sunny beach, drinking something out of a pineapple with a bright umbrella sticking out of it.

Frodsham Independent Market 04-04-15
BunBun visiting Frodsham Independent Market with the last few Easter Eggs of the season.

Before the bunny jetted off on his vacation, he joined us for the first Frodsham independent market. It was also our first time visiting Frodsham in ages, so it was great to have a look around after the market and grab a coffee at the new Whitmore & White Food Hall.

Sadly this marks the end of Easter, and the removal of our Easter eggs and other products from our online boutique. We have a lot of big things planned to replace them in the near future, so keep your eyes peeled for updates!

Egg-citing events ahead

Thank you to everyone who visited us at West Kirby Farmers’ Market last Saturday, it was great to see the market so busy! There were lots of Easter gifts being purchased – hope everyone enjoys them next weekend.

With the Sun finally making an appearance, we welcomed two new summery additions to our marshmallow range – mango & passion fruit, and mandarin & Cointreau. As always our mallows are made with only natural ingredients, and the colour comes from real fruit juices and purees. It was funny to watch what started out as a bright orange mandarin mixture whip up to an almost pure white mallow. Just to confuse you (and us!).
