FAQ

Frequently asked questions about our chocolates, confectionery and patisserie.

If you cannot find the answer to your question in the FAQ list below, please contact us and we will be happy to assist you.

Q. Where are your products made?

A. All items are handmade in our kitchen, which has been given the highest Food Hygiene rating of 5 by the local council.

Q. Are your products suitable for people with allergies?
A. Each product on our website has an “Additional Information” tab which contains a full list of allergens in that product. All products are made in the same kitchen where nuts, gluten, soya, sesame, peanut, eggs, dairy are lupin are used, so we cannot guarantee that any product will not contain traces of these allergens.

Q. Are your products suitable for vegetarians/vegans?
A. We have a wide range of vegan-friendly items (please see the “Vegan Friendly” category of our online shop). Most of our other products are suitable for vegetarians, but a small number may contain gelatine.  Please check the “Dietary” section of the “Additional Information” tab for each product which will tell you if an item is vegetarian/vegan friendly.

Q. A product is showing as available on back-order – what does that mean?
A. Items available for back-order are currently out of stock, but we will be making more soon. All items in your order will be dispatched together once the items on back-order are back in stock, which may cause dispatch of your order to be delayed. We aim to have back-order items back in stock within 1-2 weeks – please contact us if you need an item for a specific date.

Q. I would like to place an order, but don’t want it delivered until a later date – is this possible?
A. Please let us know in the “Additional notes about your order” box at checkout if you would like to delay shipping of your order. We will dispatch your items so that they should arrive a couple of days before your given date. If you are shopping for a special occasion such as Christmas or Easter, we will usually have a delivery option available which will automatically delay dispatch of your order until closer to that date.

Q. I have tried an Éponine product which is not available in the online boutique – can I still order more?
A. Many of our products are seasonal and our current range changes frequently. Most items can be made to order, however minimum order quantities may apply. Please contact us with your enquiry and we will be happy to advise you.

Q. What is the shelf life of your chocolates?
A. Our truffles and filled chocolates are all made without additives or preservatives and are best enjoyed within 2-3 weeks of delivery. Solid chocolate bars, drinking chocolate and other items have a much longer shelf life. Please see the “Additional Information” section of each product. All items have an individual best before date on the back of the box.

Q. How should I store your chocolates?
A. Chocolates are best stored in a cool, dry place at room temperature of 16-20 °C, not in the fridge. If room temperature is above 24 °C, we suggest fully wrapping with cling film or placing in an air tight box, then storing in the fridge – for best results, allow the chocolates to warm to room temperature before unwrapping and enjoying.

Q. What is the shelf life of your confectionery?
A. As all products are freshly produced with natural ingredients, they are best enjoyed shortly after purchase. Please see the “Additional Information” section of each product, or contact us and we will be happy to advise you further. All items have an individual best before date on the back of the box.

Q. What is the shelf life of your brownies?
A. Our brownies are baked with fresh ingredients and no preservatives, so are best enjoyed as fresh as possible. The individual best before date will be on the back of the box. This is usually around 10 days from dispatch, but they will keep longer if stored in the fridge.

Q. How should I store your brownies?
A. Our brownies can be stored at room temperature, but we suggest storing them in the fridge to keep them as fresh as possible. Store them in the box, ideally in an airtight container so they don’t absorb flavours or odours from other items. They can be enjoyed straight from the fridge for an extra-fudgey texture, or let them warm back up to room temperature for a softer brownie.

Q. Can your packaging be recycled?
A. We have worked hard to make our packaging as environmentally friendly as possible. Most is biodegradable, compostable or can be recycled. Please see our Recycling Guide for more information.
