Hopping our way to Market

We were out braving the cold in Altrincham Market last weekend, but kept warm by good coffee and good company from the other traders.

We’re very happy to report that we are moving back indoors this weekend, and are in equally lovely company at West Kirby Farmers’ Market. If you’ve been keeping track of our ever growing Easter collection, we will have the entire range on offer at West Kirby, alongside our usual confectionery. We also have some new marshmallow flavours for you to try, and our very popular milk chocolate dipped honeycomb is back, alongside our latest creation – “Hot Cross Buns”.

So if you’re looking for handmade eggs, or something a bit different for Easter this year, make sure you catch us from 9am-1pm on Saturday 28th in St Andrew’s Church Hall, Graham Road, West Kirby CH48 5DE. You can also pre-order all of our Easter products for collection from the market, get in touch if you would like to place an order.

Easter and Mother’s Day 2015

This time last year, we had only just started up, and Easter came and went without us being able to do much about it, so it has been great fun playing around with our range for this year!

The Golden Goose

It’s almost the end of the month, and time for West Kirby Farmers’ Market – see this month’s newsletter here.

Alongside our usual confectionery, we will have some special ideas for Mother’s Day on 15th March. We will also be presenting a sneak preview of our Easter range, which you will be able to pre-order for collection at the next market, or at the Hoylake Food Fair on the following Sunday (8th March).  You can also now find our Easter range on our Online Boutique. If you would like to reserve anything to pick up at the market this Saturday, please let us know.

Guide to Wedding Favours

What are wedding favours?

The tradition of giving wedding favours originated in Italy, where guests were presented with 5 sugared almonds symbolising health, happiness, long life, wealth and fertility. Modern wedding favours often replace the almonds with chocolates or other confectionery, and are given as a thank you and acknowledgement to friends and loved ones that they have shared in your special day. Chocolate Heart Gift Box

Since our New Year’s blog post, we’ve had quite a few emails asking about the chocolate heart box we had pictured. We have made edible chocolate boxes before, usually around Valentine’s Day, for customers who want to put a message or small gift inside the box itself (we’ve even had a couple of engagement rings go into them!). However, this is the first time we’ve done one on this scale, so thought we would do another post giving a bit more detail about what was a very fun little project.

If I see another mince pie….

For our first blog post of 2015, we would like to wish you all a Happy New Year and thank everyone who shopped with us over the Christmas period – we hope everyone enjoyed their presents!

We’ve had a bit of a break after the Christmas rush to recover from a month of manic mince pie baking, sell out markets and lots of ribbon tying! There were also some very unique private orders, from bespoke gifts made entirely of chocolate, to our first ever doughnut wedding tower:

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Levenshulme Market - 08-11-14Everywhere……… mince pies!

Thank you to all the people who braved the mild monsoon to visit Levenshulme market this weekend. We also had our last visit to Altrincham Market until our Christmas weekend (11-14th December). We’ve really enjoyed being there over the past few months and are definitely looking forwards to a whole long Christmassy weekend in such a lovely atmosphere.

Mince Pies - big & miniWe also had our first mince pies of the season – big and mini, both stuffed with brandy soaked vine fruits. The mini ones were so popular, extra reinforcements had to be made late on Saturday night.

Pre-orders are now being taken for mince pies and Christmas cakes to be collected from any of the December markets in our events calendar. Get in touch for more information and to place your order!

Marshmallow ghost army?

West Kirby Farmers’ Market took a spooky turn this past Saturday! As you can see from the snaps below, we went a little mad with the Hallowe’en theme……

Our bat mascot was very much admired by the market goers, so much so he had to take refuge in an apron!
