So much chocolate, so little time

Just about recovered after a manic weekend at the Ideal Home Show at Christmas, held at Manchester’s EventCity.

This was our biggest show yet, with a reported 40,000 visitors over four days. The venue was completely transformed into a winter wonderland, complete with festive woodland, live music, and snow machine! All the exhibitors also went to extra effort in decking their stands with Christmas decorations, which really helped with the festive atmosphere. We continued the feeling with a stand full of Continue reading So much chocolate, so little time

Paris, The City of Love (and cake)

It’s hard to get away when you’re running your own business, especially if it’s food related. Somewhere between production, planning, stock management, juggling orders, dealing with suppliers and the constant feeling that there’s always more to do, it’s hard enough to find time to sleep, never mind jet off on holiday and leave it all behind.

Sometimes, though, it’s great to just stop and take stock of where you are at. Even better is if you can add a little “research” to the mix, combining work and pleasure so you feel a little less bad about leaving your business baby on the back burner for a few days.

Good News from Good Food!

We are delighted to announce that we have won a bursary award to exhibit at one of the biggest food and drink shows in the country, and our biggest event to date! We will be at the BBC Good Food Show Winter in Birmingham from 26-29th November.

It all started last January when we contacted the lovely Katy Truss (who runs Fabulous Food Finds) about the BBC Good Food Show Bursary Awards.

Macs and Snacks

It’s been a really lovely week at chocolate HQ!

The week started off with a bespoke macaron order for a wedding dessert table. We’d matched the shell colours and fillings to the theme, filling pale dusky pink ones with raspberry compote and white chocolate and the sea green shells with white chocolate flavoured with fresh lime and toasted coconut. It was really lovely to be sent a photo of how they looked as part of the beautiful display, and we really hope everyone enjoyed demolishing it!

Now available in a local shop for local people

We’ve been busy bees over the past few months developing (and taste-testing our way through) all sorts of new products and flavours.

So here’s our guest blog for Whitmore & White, introducing our new range of chocolate stocked in their Heswall and Frodsham stores.

P.S. If you are unfortunate enough to live too far away, you can catch us armed with most of these items at events and they will soon be available on our online boutique.

We’re all going on a summer holi….. nope back to work!

Our festival season came to an end (at least the ones we had booked for the Summer have all been and gone), and we could really use a holiday…. which is why we went straight into a week of product testing, markets, client visits and tastings. The world of chocolate never rests!

First up a little experimentation with new chocolate decorations. I was quite pleased with this red speckled pattern, although my dear colleague thought it looked like someone had been stabbed. A quick coating of bronze made them look a little less what we had dubbed “crime scene chic”, and a lot more appropriate for their maple caramel and pecan praline filling.

Trying a new chocolate design, affectionately dubbed “crime scene chic”…. These eventually became maple caramel and pecan praline chocolates., as part of our latest seasonal selection box.

Food Festivals & Farmers’ Markets

To say that we’ve had a hectic weekend would be an understatement.

First off, we were at the Tatton Park Foodies Festival from Friday to Sunday. There was a great atmosphere from the start, with visitors starting to queue long before the event opened each day. We were actually greeted each morning by herds of beautiful fallow deer and sheep, grazing in the sunshine. Continue reading Food Festivals & Farmers’ Markets

Izzy, Wizzy, Let’s get busy!

Another weekend and TWO new places for us!

Our first trip will be to this year’s Tatton Park Foodies Festival. This takes places over three days (Friday 17th-Sunday 19th) and is a huge festival with all the usual suspects, including great local produce, celebrity chefs and tons to see and do. Set in beautiful Tatton Park, this promises to be the biggest festival we have attended so far, and hopefully the best one yet! Continue reading Izzy, Wizzy, Let’s get busy!
