To say that we’ve had a hectic weekend would be an understatement.
First off, we were at the Tatton Park Foodies Festival from Friday to Sunday. There was a great atmosphere from the start, with visitors starting to queue long before the event opened each day. We were actually greeted each morning by herds of beautiful fallow deer and sheep, grazing in the sunshine. The summer Sun did cause a few problems towards the end of each day as we had to slowly move our tables further back to protect our precious chocolate, but we were very grateful that the rain mostly stayed away this weekend. We bumped into some old faces, and met some lovely people there including Coeur de Xocolat, Harley Wines, and Dough It Yourself.
It was also the debut of our new hot chocolate stirrers – we were getting asked so often if we made them, that we finally caved to public demand and launched our first range of flavours. They were an instant hit, and our most popular item this weekend (even in this heat)! You’ll be able to find them all in our online shop very soon, with a selection of flavours available in Whitmore & White from next weekend.
There were lots of demos throughout the weekend, from beer and spirits to chocolate and cake. Best of all they were free to watch, so we even managed to catch a few ourselves when it wasn’t too busy. The whole experience was really brought together by the lovely and very friendly event staff who were always ready to help when the Sun was getting a little enthusiastic and chocolate was in peril. We had a great time at this event, and are looking forward to next year!
For Saturday, we split ourselves in two, with one of us taking a break from Tatton to head over to the Wirral for the first Heswall Farmers’ Market. It’s always nice to see familiar faces from other events on the Wirral, and for a first market it was a huge success – lots of people turned out to support it, and we’ve had some really wonderful feedback from the customers about both the market and our chocolates. The next market will be held on Saturday 15th August – see you there!
