We’re happy to announce that we’ve finally joined two local Food Assemblies, one based in South Manchester (Stretford) and the other in Chester (Hoole).
The Food Assembly is a new way of running a farmers market style event, but where all your shopping is done online and in advance. You then simply collect your order from the designated collection point, where you can meet the producer, chat, and enjoy all the benefits and interaction of a regular market. The big advantage for shoppers is that you can see what’s on offer and do all your shopping in advance, so you’re not turning up hoping that a producer hasn’t run out of what you need. You’re also supporting local, artisan producers and the local economy, all from the comfort of your sofa! For us as producers, it means we know exactly how much stock to make and bring to a market, rather than gambling on what will or won’t sell that day. We’d say that’s pretty win-win!
If you’re in the Manchester area, check out the South Manchester (Stretford) Food Assembly Online Shop. This is a brand new assembly, with the first collection on Sunday 13 December from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, at The Sip Club, 164a Barton Road, Stretford (M32 8DP).
If you’re closer to Chester, why not visit the Chester (Hoole) Food Assembly Online Shop? Our first collection will be Monday 21st December from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, at Hoole Community Centre, Westminster Rd, Hoole (CH2 3AU). There’s also a pop-up market, so you may catch us there too.
